Publication Ethics
Blambangan Journal of Nursing and Health Sciences (BJNHS) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher involved in the publication process. BJNHS adheres to internationally recognized principles of ethical publishing and best practices.
1. Ethical Principles
BJNHS is guided by the principles of:
- Integrity and honesty in scholarly communication
- Transparency and accountability in editorial processes
- Respect for intellectual property
- Fairness and objectivity in peer review
All parties involved in the publication process are expected to comply with these principles.
2. Authors’ Responsibilities
Authors submitting manuscripts to BJNHS are required to:
- Ensure that the work is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration elsewhere
- Accurately present research data and results without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation
- Properly acknowledge the work of others through appropriate citation and referencing
- Disclose all sources of funding and any potential conflicts of interest
- Ensure that research involving human participants has received appropriate ethical approval and that informed consent has been obtained where applicable
- Follow relevant international reporting guidelines appropriate to the study design
3. Editors’ Responsibilities
Editors of BJNHS are responsible for:
- Making editorial decisions based solely on the scholarly merit, originality, clarity, and relevance of the manuscript
- Ensuring a fair, unbiased, and timely peer-review process
- Maintaining the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts
- Avoiding conflicts of interest and recusing themselves when necessary
- Taking appropriate action in cases of suspected ethical misconduct, including plagiarism, duplicate publication, or data falsification
4. Reviewers’ Responsibilities
Reviewers are expected to:
- Conduct reviews objectively, constructively, and within the agreed timeframe
- Treat manuscripts as confidential documents
- Identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors
- Declare any conflicts of interest and decline review when such conflicts exist
- Refrain from using unpublished material for personal advantage
5. Peer Review Process
BJNHS applies a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed to ensure impartial evaluation. All manuscripts are reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise.
6. Plagiarism and Misconduct
BJNHS has a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism and academic misconduct. All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection tools. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism, redundant publication, or unethical research practices will be rejected or retracted as appropriate.
7. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern
When errors or ethical issues are identified after publication, BJNHS will take appropriate action, which may include issuing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern in accordance with accepted publishing standards.
8. Copyright and Intellectual Property
Authors retain the copyright of their published work and grant BJNHS the right to publish and disseminate the article under the journal’s open access licensing policy. All published content must respect applicable copyright laws and intellectual property rights.
9. Complaints and Appeals
Authors may submit complaints or appeals regarding editorial decisions or ethical concerns. All complaints will be handled fairly, transparently, and confidentially by the editorial team.
